Monkey Mia Dolphins

The Monkey Mia dolphins are globally renowned for their near-daily ritual of swimming close to shore to interact with humans.

The Indo-pacific dolphins of Monkey Mia have been swimming close to shore each morning for over 40 years, in one of the best wild dolphin interactions in the world. Park Rangers feed up to 4 dolphins a small amount of fish each day (less than 10% of their total daily intake), to ensure they continue to behave and hunt naturally, and people flock from around for the experience. The Monkey Mia dolphins have been crucial to providing researchers with invaluable insight into their ecology, genetics, social structures and more.

Rangers feed the dolphins up to three times each morning, between 07:45 and 12 midday. It's recommended to arrive to the beach by 07:30 for the best experience.
